Appointment set for Saturday, Sept. 2, with departure at 8 p.m.: Verona will rediscover the magic of the urban trail thanks to “ASICS TRAIL DELLE MURA,” the event organized by Verona Marathon Team that a year ago brought more than 500 enthusiasts to the start in the square in front of the Basilica of San Zeno, the city’s patron saint, committed to a 17-kilometer route full of history and charm,
A well-established route, which from Castelvecchio with the bridge over the Adige River will reach San Giorgio in Braida, and then go through the Austrian “lasagne,” all cobblestones and stones with steep sections; then the descent into Valpantena, amidst olive trees, toward Quinto. Then the Castellana, Castel San Felice, and the crossing of the Parco delle Mura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. Next, from the Austrian ramparts a long descent down the steps leading from Castel San Pietro to the Adige River, to reach the Torre della Catena and Porta Fura, before the grand finale to Piazza San Zeno. A combination of history and sport, in an itinerary made up of paved roads alternating with dirt stretches, steps and paths. A unique trial that will bring participants and their companions to appreciate the city of Verona, its monuments and its great river.
Confirmed the partnership with Asics, which once again will be “title sponsor” of the event. Registration has already been open for some time: the fee will be 24 euros for those who register by June 30, rising to 27 euros until August 14, to 30 euros until August 30. But it will also be possible to join on the day of the event, at the amount of 35 euros. Each registrant will be given a rich race package, containing among other things a diploma and a very original “Finisher” medal, as well as a dedicated technical T-shirt.
